Career Diva: Green at the Scene (Corporate FOTD)

Good Morning beautiful, beautiful people! I have decided to have "Career Diva" looks which are inspired by fashion forward, working women. Just because you have a corporate job does not mean one has to rock reading glasses, matronly hair and a plain face. Not At All!!!

The art of corporate make-up is one that is drenched in controlled creativity, when I say controlled creativity I mean being creative but working within limits. One cannot be looked at as "professional" wearing a blue lip or a bright rainbow of colors on the eyelid.

Being able to match and blend colors to give a soft, subtle appearance with still maintaining a pop of personality is the goal for the look of a "Career Diva".

Here is my first "Corporate make-up" look, "Green at the Scene" Inspired by the following OOTD:

<3 My nude pumps!

BROWS: Miliani Brow Pen in Dark Brown & NYX Brow Pencil in Dark Brown

EYES:  On the lids (all urban decay shadows) Grafitti on the inner lid and tear duct, Haight on the remainder of the lid, used both Gunmetal and Rockstar in the outer V to give the smokey effect. I used Underground as the brow highlight.

LIPS: Lips are fully lined with NYX's Purple Rain, filled in with MAC's Daddy's Little Girl from the 2013 Archie's Girls Collection.

FACE: L'Oreal True Match in Cappuccino, Ruby Kisses Liquid Eyeliner in black, Maybelline Stilleto Lash Mascara, Ben Nye Banana powder for under eye highlight, Ben Nye Sienna for contouring, LaFemme Cinnabar on and finally I set my look with Ben Nye's Topaz powder:

Ok, so I knew before I was even asked that EVERYONE would want to see how this purple fairs against a lot of MAC's other purples even the purple to end all purples... Ms. Heroine.

In both pictures the swatches are as follows from left to right:

MAC Temperature Rising Collection Swatches

Good Morning Make-up heads and MAC lovers. I was so excited (as always) to see the UPS man walking up the driveway with that small black box in his hands, for I knew it was my TR collection as us MAC fanatics have been referring to it. I did not purchase a lot from this collection as there were only 2 items that I really wanted. Well 3 but I really would like to see a swatch of "Ripe for Love" blush on someone closer to my complexion before purchasing. Well without further or do... LET'S GET TO IT!

THE BLUSH: "HOT NIGHTS" - Bright Mid-tone Berry Pink - Frost finish

Very pretty blush in the package it reminded me of "Prom Princess" the Team Veronica blush from the 2013 Archie's Girls collection however, they swatch completely different. Prom Princess is definitely much lighter than Hot Nights although HN is a frost. Here are comparison swatches:

Left: Hot Nights, Right: Prom Princess

Left: Hot Nights, Right: Prom Princess

One layer of Hot Nights applied to my cheeks

THE LIPSTICK: "FEEL MY PULSE" - Vivid Magenta Violet - Cremesheen finish

PURPLE POWER!!! Yes another purple from MAC this year. FMP is pretty and reminds me of Maybelline Vivids Collection's "Brazen Berry". It even applies kind of the same. Maybe because this is a cremesheen, so its very creamy and moisturizing. I wore it with "Heroine" lip liner and it blended in perfectly. Its almost as if this is a cremesheen, iridescent version of Heroine. Of course I did comparison swatches but that is another post by itself. Here we are:

Here is my FOTD using these Products along with: L'Oreal True Match in Cappuccino, Urban Decay Shadow in "Fishnet", Ruby Kisses Liquid Eyeliner in black, Maybelline Stilleto Lash Mascara, Ben Nye Banana powder for under eye highlight, Ben Nye Sienna for contouring, Hot Nights on the cheeks, Lips lined with MAC Heroine liner, MAC Feel My Pulse lipstick applied and finally I set my look with Ben Nye's Topaz powder:

Product Review: Milani Brow Tint Pen - Dark Brown

So I tried this baby for the first time today and I must say that so far I am a fan. Very easy to apply, its dries almost like a magic marker if you swatch it on your hand but when you apply this to your brows you do not get the magic marker effect. Because this is a felt tip it is very precise. My only issue is that it doesn't do well if some concealer gets on the tip. You will have to really wipe it off or else the tip will absorb some of the concealer and you wont get as good a color pay off. Which you will need because "Dark Brown" isn't as dark as the dark brown hues of some other popular companies. Ruby Kisses brow definer in "Dark Brown" is much darker and richer.

Of all the products I have used to create a fairly simple and everyday brow I would definitely rate this an 8 out of 10.

Application: 9
Convenience: 10
Color Payoff: 7
Easy to use: 10
Color Match: 8

This is easy to use for anyone, from a beginner to an expert.

Here is how my first use came out:

The day Pink met Purple

Good Mernin folks and folkses! Can I just say that the weather yesterday was just absolutely **Shawty lo voice** BURRTIFUL! As I left work and started driving home I was in such an AwesomeSauce mood. Its something about the sun shining, the AC blowing and seeing ppl going about their merry ways that inspires creativity within my spirit.

So, when I got home I began to immediately pick out my outfit for the next day. I wanted to wear something fairly simple but still cute and comfy. I decided on a cheetach print top that has a hot pank to purple ombre effect in the background paired with black slacks. I didnt take pics of my outfit before leaving the house although I should've. It totally slipped my mind, please forgive me lol. You can see part of the top in some of the pics below. Anywho, that is what inspired "The day Pink met Purple"

For the eyes:
I used Urban Decay's "Infamous" on the entire lid and then used "Ransom" on the outer lid and to create a "smokey" effect. I lined them using a black kohl pencil with a slight wing. I applied using the "Good Karma Shadow" brush by Urban Decay.

Face:
I primed with the cheapest-most effective product on the market.... Milk of Magnesia lol! I applied L'Oreal's True Match in Cappuccino all over with my Sonia Kashuk Beauty Blender. I let it dry then applied Ben Nye's "Banana" powder for my under eye highlight, used Ben Nye's "Sienna" for contouring my cheeks and "Topaz" to set. LaFemme's blush in "Satin Rose" applied to my cheeks.

For the Lips:
After moisturizing I applied MAC's "Heroine" lip liner over the entire lip and layered it heavily around the outline and in the corners. I then applied MAC's "Pink Pigeon" lipstick (matte finish) all over both bottom and top lips.  I went in with the Heroine liner and went over the outline one more time.

Peach and Emerald

Sooo I woke up this morning and although I could've overslept, I felt very refreshed. I had already picked out this lovely Emerald top with gold buttons that I bought from Ashley Stewart a few months back and paired it with a pair of peach jeggings. The jeggings are not your typical cotton/spandex, they are definitely some sort of blend.  Anywho I decided to throw on a pair of Ivory/nude Mary Janes with Gold details.

Of course immediately I started thinking.... "Good Lort! What make up look goes with this?".  Soooo after going back and forth about it for a while and I definitively decided upon MAC's Betty Bright lipstick from the Archie's Girls collection. I wanted a more natural look for the lips so I paired it with NYX's Mahogany liner... I really love this combo... nice way for brown girls to rock this shade and also if you are looking to make the lippie come off more of a natural hue, this is great.

And for my eyes? I used 2 of my Urban Decay Palettes. I used "Scratch" from my Deluxe Shadow Box on the entire lid, then used "Rockstar" from the Mariposa palette to smoke the eye out. Lined my lids with Ruby Kisses liquid liner and applied Maybelline's Stilleto Mascara.  LaFemme "Terracotta" on the cheeks, L'Oreal True Match in "Cappuccino" and Ben Nye "Topaz" powder to set. Here I am all put together lol:
